The Kindergarten students are learning about The Season of Advent
Sunday, November 27th marked the beginning of Advent. Your child, along with the rest of the school celebrated the event on Monday and will continue celebrating every subsequent Monday until Christmas Day. Please ask your child about their experience to reinforce the meaning of the Season.
The Advent wreath consists of 3 purple, 1 pink and I white candle. The 4 coloured candles represent the 4 weeks leading up to Christmas Day. The white candle is lit on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.
The first candle lit is purple and represents HOPE. The second candle lit is also purple and represents PEACE. The third candle lit is pink and represents JOY. The forth candle lit is purple and represents LOVE.
BELOW ARE THE WREATHS EACH STUDENT HAS CREATED AND WILL CONTINUE TO "LIGHT" EVERY MONDAY.

Halloween sing alongs!
We hope everyone had a fun and exciting Halloween! The children were surely happy and excited to share costumes and stories of their night. With many news feedings hitting the media, we are strongly encouraging parents to inspect candy carefully and limit the sweets in the healthy lunch preparation. Please listen to our number ! hits this year in class.

The Ladybugs enjoyed our science experiments
Parents were in last week to help us with some fun science experiments. Lots of inquiry was happening. Will the pumpkin sink or float? What will happen when the vinegar is added to the baking soda? Why? How will we make the slime? The skittles are making a rainbow!! The colours are joining together...red and yellow is making orange!!
Thank you parents for your patience and for promoting more inquiry.

Practicing zippers
Please help encourage your child to independently zip zippers and provide time to independently practice putting on boots, coats, scarves, mitts and hats. Winter is closely near and this would only benefit their dressing and undressing skills in a timely manner to enjoy the activities to follow. Many children have difficulties with gloves and the spreadi of the fingers so please work with your child on putting on and taking off. If possible, please keep a spare pair of mittens in their backpack as it may take awhile for mitts to dry throughout the day. We do not want to see our children feel cold.
Halloween crafts
With our gift cards that were given to the Clownfish Class , I would like to announce that the children are very delighted to see some of the wonderful crafts purchased by some of the funds given. Thank you to all the families who helped contribute supplies needed in the classroom.
Many Thanks to our parents!
The clownfish class would like to say many thanks for your generous donations for our Shepherds Of Good Hope. The children have been extremely eager to bring food items in and take part in helping our community. Many learning curves have been seen from graphing to counting and of course leaving our mark on the gigantic thermometer. Please continue to help this great cause.

Brrrrrr, it's cold outside
Today was the first day we felt the chilly weather while playing outside. Since we will continue to go outside daily to get some much needed fresh air and gross motor play, we kindly ask you dress your child with a warmer jacket and send a hat and mittens for these cold days. They have so much more fun if they are cozy warm! Please label everything possible. Thank you so much!

Halloween News
Holy Family will be celebrating Halloween at school on Monday, October 31st. There is no obligation but your child is certainly welcome to wear orange and black or a Halloween costume that day. For their own safety, we kindly ask that the students not wear masks or bring any hand held props that would be considered a weapon such as swords and knives. It might be a good idea to have them wear the costume over their clothes so they are free to change when they get tired.
Since one of our students has just recently been diagnosed with a peanut allergy, we would ask that you do not send in any candy or treats please. We have a feeling they will get enough that evening!!!
Thank you for your understanding.

From the Panetta/Deek Classroom...
A friendly reminder to send in your designated Alphabet Letter soon. The ones that were already sent in are so creative and look amazing on the wall. Thank you!
We have several family photos but still missing a few. We really want every child to be part of our Family Tree.
Coming soon....
We can't wait to post photos of our classroom happenings. There seems to be a glitch right now but we will rectify ASAP!
We will also post photos of items that the students are not recognizing.....Tupperware, grey sweater.
Missing: one of our students is missing a precious cream colour sweater; if your child accidentally brought it home, please return thank you.
Thank you so much for your support!

A very warm Welcome to our new students as well as our returning families! We look forward to another fun filled school year. It was a very hot first week but we got through it triumphantly......well perhaps with a few tears!
We have 3 Kindergarten classes this year:
Miss Dirienzo is in Room 7 with a class capped at 15 with no ECE (Early Childhood Educator);
Mme Finlay is in Room 8 with Early Childhood Educator,
Miss Lavoie;
Mrs. Panetta is in Room 9 with Early Childhood Educator,
Mrs Deek.
We welcome Miss Dirienzo and Mrs.Deek to our school! We are very happy to have them join our Kinder Team!
Meet the Educator Night
We encourage all parents to come out on Tuesday evening, September 27th to meet the teachers and have the opportunity to join your own childs' teacher(s) for a short information session. This is an adult only evening please.
A few reminders and requests......
- We know the weather is changing but for now the school is quite warm, Please send your child in layers so they are not too warm.
- Please write your child's name on everything possible (clothing, shoes, rubber boots, winter boots, lunch kits, water bottles, plastic containers, blankets, etc. You would be amazed at the duplicates!!!!
- If you haven't sent a change of clothing in a labelled ziplock yet, please do so before we actually need them. To save us time from writing notes, if a set of clothing comes home soiled, please replenish the next day.
- Your child will require a set of headphones for the ipad use. Remember we did keep a few sets from our last year Junior Kindergarten students.
- If you havent sent in a box of kleenex, box of ziplock bags and 2 containers of playdough,we would certainly appreciate the contribution. Several of you have already sent them in.....thank you so very much!
- In addition to the above, we would kindly request a small gift card, $5.00 or so, from Dollaramma, Dollar Tree or Walmart for example. This would be for our year long purchases toward special and seasonal craft items, sensory bin materials, developing photos and so much more. We certainly appreciate your generosity.
Thank you so much!!!!!

Birthdays
We always highlight every student's birthday with a crown, singing and a goodie bag and you really don't have to feel obligated to send in anything. If you are wanting to send a little something, may we suggest perhaps a pencil or sticker, etc. All three classes have students with sensitivities to a variety of foods and one sibling with a serious peanut allergy. We would kindly ask that you not send in baked goods. Thank you so much for your understanding on this sensitive matter.
